.Hello. This is a personal opinion that you should go with what you love. Personally I find Black very attractive and it should be in every room. I am considering painting some thrifted dining room chairs black to go with my existing set.

Hi Deb, it's a very personal decision to make about the color, especially between such different tones as off white and black. I'd suggest you take a picture of your oak furniture in the room, print out the picture and then try adding using paper cut outs over the furniture to get an idea of which you prefer. Off-white may blend into the walls and make the furniture less noticeable, while black will make the furniture stand out against a liight wall. Black furniture can look very sophisticated.

If it was me I would paint it black. I think black looks rich and elegant.
If black, I would stain with an ebony color. You definitely need something that will stand up to high wear and tear. Enamel paint might be the way to go.
There is a paint called All in one you don’t need to sand remove paint nothing only wash down good with Murphy’s oil soap to get oil off from polish then paint you could do the set white top or natural top and black legs .same with hutch
I like black! You can use chalk paint
I say go with what you love. However, having done both, white is much easier to paint over if you change your mind! Also, I use a photo app and alter the colors of items to visualize them in my room. That helps me a lot!
Give it a good sanding and paint away..
Remember it is easier to go over light with a darker colour than go over dark with a lighter colour, so choose a lighter colour first, and if you don't like it you can easily go a bit darker. You could always use a Gel Stain or maybe a coloured wax to change it up a bit!
Hi Deb, I love black, it has such a rich look! For a matte look use chalk paint! For a glossy look use a high gloss paint. Good luck!
