Steps to refinish an antique dressing table?

Table was a hand me down from her grandmother with a removable mirror that tilts and a clear glass removable table top. Dressing table is currently a dull maple and want to refinish in a glossy black to go in a dorm room to be used as a make up table.

Cleaning and then deglossing ( deglossing liquid will work) or lightly sand 120 grit sand paper. Apply General Finishes Gel Stain that comes in many wood stain colors.
