How to update a small open bookcase?

    Not knowing what it looks like makes it hard to suggest but I have been painting my older furniture white and then distressing it. You could also cover the back of shelves with wallpaper or printed card stock.

    id paint it and get cool baskets to put stuff in that help get rid of cutter. Good luck

    Hi. If the bookcase is going to be a show piece, use metallic paints and chalk paint - simulating a distressed look with the chalk paint. If this piece is going to just have the side and shelves showing and packed with books, paint it the same color as the wall. The books are your main attraction. Happy DIY'ing!

    Hello! You could paint the bookcase and replace the back with a piece of bead board. Or you can paint the back a contrast color :)
