Clean it then use rustoleum paint. Covers and takes real good. Am just looking at one my nepew brought me recently. I'm going to put some plywood on top.then paint rest along with repairing lick -

I spray painted mine outside on some cardboard to protect the lawn and sidewalk. Walmart sells special paint made for metal or plastic or wood. It is very reasonable and not bad, just be sure to be outside or in a well ventilated room. -

Lightly sand to remove any gloss. Spray paint with metal paint. Several likght coats will give you a smooth finish. -

Willliam and Lenora both give good advice! I prefer Rustoleum paint for metal. -

Agree with above Rustoleum spray paint is awesome. Be careful to apply light coats from a proper distance to prevent drips/ runs. I often use the accessory spray attachment.
