Hi, I am Patty Schuttenhelm. I live in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and winter in Fountain Hills, Arizona. I do DIY projects inside and outside of both of my homes. My hubby and I make a great team on a project. We feed off of each other's projects. I do all of my own carpentry, prcelain tile installation and all of my landscaping and gardening. I also make all of my own window treatments. I love Hometalk. I get to share my projects and learn new ones from others. My project "Polatems" was one of my most fun projects along with the Mexican tile wall I did at our home in Arizona. I have just celebrated 16 years cancer free and on January 15th, I will celebrate 8 years since my open heart surgery. My love for good hard work and creating beauty keeps me going.

Lady, I wish you many, many more happy years of decorating and re-purposing !! Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin? I have a large signed and numbered painting ($5.00 from Goodwill!!). I actually bought it for the frame until I saw a signature and realized this was no run of the mill print. It's 'White Oak' by Gerhard C.F. Miller who, if memory serves me, has a gallery there. Of course, he's passed on but I became fascinated with the man! Not only a painter but a world traveler, writer and poet.

    • Patty S Patty S on Jan 08, 2017

Yes Gerard C.F Miller is a very well known artist here. One of the best.

I love ready what everyone has to say. The one big thing I get from it all is we are Strong. We can do anything if we just don't listen to the (I can't do it little voice in our heads) and listen to the (I CAN DO IT). We have all fought our battles in life and have become stronger, kinder, more forgiven, and more compassionate. DIY and Crafting makes me feel like I can do whatever I want. I love when I make something and someone buys it that lives all around the world from me. I don't do it for the money. I do it because I love it. I have bought things from People from all over the world and love looking at it on my art wall. Things don't have to be perfect because life is not perfect. We can do whatever we want. Beauty is in the perfect and imperfect. Love the Ideas I get from reading about what you all are doing. Ireland is on my bucket list. Just remember there is beauty in rain. It is raining here in California too. Love watching the birds eating, and the water dripping off the roses. I have been Cancer free for over 10 years. We just need to keep fighting. Just know that things will always be the way they are meant to be. Love how talented everyone is on here. This is what life is about. Love, Creativity, Sharing and Caring. Thank You.
