How to fix these doors

How or what suggestions do you have for me with the doors of this cabinet? The two outside doors have storage for CD's which is only to the front half of the cabinet and the other half is wasted space. And somehow I feel the doors need a little "something". In fact I was thinking of cutting out the center pieces of the doors but have no idea where to start? I was thinking of either a rustic looking painted top with dry brush technique for the body or a wooden top with antiquing for the body.
The idea is not to spend too much money on it, but I was just thinking of perhaps adding barn doors, depending on the cost of course.
Your suggestions would mean a lot to me as I like what I have seen from you so far.

If you decide to change to barn doors, you will need new hardware and that can be pricy. If it were mine, I would remove the cd storage units for more space inside. I would sand and restain the top in a dark walnut and paint the rest in the color of my choice. I've seen them done it white, teal, dark green...whatever fits with your decor. The paint can be distressed with sandpaper and then sealed with a glaze or wax. A dark glaze/wax with give it an 'antiqued' look.

Are you talking about removing all 4 doors and putting on barn doors? If so, I would make a cardboard of a barndoor on your entertainment center and put it up on the front to see if you like that effect, it may appear to be too clunky, especially with all the hardware it requires, although small. Not sure if there is enough room for tracks to install the barndoors in.
Entertainment centers are pretty much compartmentalized, as yours is, so if you have a use for all the boxed spaces, that's great. If not you could consider removing them, with the exception of the two outer cabinets. The insides would look great painted or use peel and stick wall paper.
What is your eventual purpose for this?

I would seriously think about taking those cd storage units out those are in themselves wasting a lot of room. You can get or even make wooden cd storage using scrap wood and you can make it so the stack using all of your space. I would thing a nice coat of chalk paint would also help give this piece a face lift.
If it were mine, I would leave the top wooden stain (paint isn't as durable), replaced the pulls, and paint the whole thing. Add some type of baskets in the open areas, probably woven or cloth to soften. I think if it's painted it will be more of a shaker style door. A bit hard to tell in the photo but especially the smaller doors. Perhaps even add removable wallpaper or contact paper inside the doors for interest.
In my honest opinion, I would remove the CD storage and put smaller shelves in that area to make use of the space better. I would not paint with chalk paint, it scratches too easily. I would go go DLawless and look for some cool pulls for the doors. I would lightly sand the top and use General Finishes darker stain and they have a top coat which is bullet proof just about.. If you like that look you could sand down the rest of the cabinet and stain whatever color you like.
I would remove all the doors. Remove the CD racks and replace with shelves. Put in baskets where the lower doors are. Or you can leave the lower doors, remove the center panel and replace it with cane webbing, decorative metal screen, etc. You can even decoupage decorative paper or fabric over the center panels. Peel and stick wallpaper would look good too.
