Toilet flange issue!

Help! My toilet flange is broken but the last owner has tile and concrete hanging over it so I can’t remove! (And there is only one screw!) I already need to raise it. Can I just put a new one on top and use sealant between? Really trying to avoid a Plummer.

Hi Carol, it seems you will have to drill out the concrete and also cut/break the tile to remove the flange. Here's a video that may help you with the flange itself. It's sad to encounter these types of problems when people don't think about the future when they repair, just the immediate fix. I hope the video helps a bit.

try a chisel and hammer and goggles. use a glass cutter to etch the tile and then put the chisel into the groove and hammer. Just try it.
All you need is a toilet flange extender. Screws right on top of the existing flange. You can use some caulk between the two but not really needed. I never used any. The wax ring creates the seal between the toilet and flange

Yes the new wax ring will fill in the gap and seal it up .Try to clean up best you could so wax ring sticks
It’s tricky but you need a piece of cardboard firm a strong string and a small stick make a hole in the card board put the string through and tie the stick to it now pull through the hole so stick is on inside of card board and hold string put that in the hole and compound around it holding the string tight.after it’s compounded tape to the wall and let dry you might need to compound a couple of times
I sure wouldn't put something over the old one, just asking for a leak iMHO. I would get a small chisel and remove the small amount of concrete, then use tin snips to open up that ring so you can yank it out in pieces. Then clean up the area, and slide your new ring in.
I had a similar problem and ended up leaving the flange, instead finding pieces that would help the toilet fit properly like a taller wax ring with the plastic funnel part inside. I ended up with a part that was like a collapsable funnel piece that made a tight seal between the toilet and flange, like these in this Amazon link.
My husband got a flange extender. Ours is red lol, but it worked and there is an extra thick wax ring that when you put the potty back on, seals it perfectly.
