I see something I like the look of and then attempt to recreat it myself. Plus all the people on this site are very smart, intelligent and crafty, have made my own versions of some of their ideas.

Well,I subscribe to Hometalk and other sites, like Pinterest. I read a lot and subscribe to blogs that have a project or two, that interests me. Once I get a newsletter or two from each blog, I usually have a general idea if it's a site that I cannot live without or if it's a site that I need to click on unsubscribe field. It's kind of a test run for your preferences and gives you an idea, in a short period of time, if that particular site is worth your energy. In simply asking questions to gather information, is a beautiful way (such as you have done here) to gather information and suggestions regarding clever ideas.
