One of the easiest projects to do. Choosing a thermostat is just as important. My tastes run extremely simple - heat, off, a/c and adjust temperature up or down. I have a 24 hour household so there is generally a responsible adult here 24/7 to make any necessary adjustments. Most people want high tech programmable, adjust from your smartphone or computer. Do your research, some are better than others and some are so complicated you need a NASA engineer and an IT Dept. to install. Here are a couple links to help you out. The age of your furnace makes a difference. Ours is a bit aged and when we had a security system put in they changed it to one that was not compatible with our furnace and you could not adjust it or anything. We had to put our old one back on. When you get one make sure you take the year, the model and everything with you so that you get a compatible one. If you think it will be more than you can do, please, for your own safety get someone that knows how to do it and have them install it. That way you know it will be put in right.Helpful Reply -

If yours is like ours, the up arrow will move the temp setting up one degree at a time and the down arrow cooler one degree at a time. The small Degree in the bottom right corner is probably the present room temperature. Hope this helpsHelpful Reply -
