Blank wall plate over an existing outlet

Question

i have an outlet in the wall for TV (about 5' from floor). I am not using it. Can I put a blank face plate plate on top of it? will this violate any code?Thanks.

If you remove the outlet, wire nut the wires you can put a blank cove over it. Make sure you turn the power off to it before you remove the outlet.

Sure you can. these outlets can be covered with blank plates or filled with baby safety plastic outlet covers.

If it's a cable outlet, the blanks only have one circle. If nothing is sticking out, you could use a solid blank. If you can write really tiny, you could label the blank with an ultrafine permanent marker for the new owners someday.

Thanks for the response. Just want to leave the outlet as is and cover with a blank plate so that it can used when needed.

If it's cable, you can put a blank over it and ignore all the above about turning the power off. There's no power in there.
