How do I cover heavy black electric cord to disguise it?

I bought a fake log for my bedroom fireplace. It’s hokey and I love it but the heavy cord is black and the floor is oak and walls are light color. Can I cover it with colored duct tape? Or paint? I’m afraid it will overheat whatever I do.

Amazon and others sell products called "cable concealers". Attach to the baseboard, run the wire through it, and snap the cover on.
office supply stores have cord covers several to choose from.
Cord cover! And no it will not overheat because you cover the cord.
