How do I find replacement metal bands and coil spring for chair bottom

I have an old wooden chair in the Mission style. The support for the cushion on the bottom is rusted and sagging. I don't know what this type of webbing is called or where to find it. My google searches have yielded nothing. Does anyone know? Picture being attached . Thank you!

Hey Kathy, try going to an antique store. Lots of times they have items to fix antiques as well as sale them. Good luck!

Hello Kathy, A Hardware store should be able to provide the Springs, and a Blacksmith the steel bracers. You could try to get the rust of by soaking them in WD-40 over 24 hours, and then cleaning them off and coating them with a rust retardant Primer and then paint maybe. Or go for Bunjies or Parrelli Strapping from Upholstery Store.

Kathy Lynch (I have a niece named that.) I think this chair had a cushion that had the coil springs in the seat cushion. If I were you I would make a large foam cushion covered with fabric I chose.

Thanks so much for responding. I have the cushions and they are solid foam, but maybe they aren't the originals (didn't think of that.) I just bought 4" solid foam replacements - but if I repair the chair and it still sags I now know what to do. Hello to the other Kathy Lynch!

You should be able to find the springs and metal straping at Home Depot, Lowes, or Menard's. Take a spring and strap along with you. Perforated metal plumbing strapping to hold pipes up can be cut to the length you need. Comes in rolls.

An upholstery shop or supplier is indeed the best place to find the parts you need.
