Bottles slip out of position causing a domino
effect sometimes causing breakage. Does
anyone have an idea how to secure them more

  • Put rubber bands on the necks of the bottles so they do not slip out. Honestly, this does not look like a well designed wine rack, as they are not supposed to just tumble out willy nilly. Please take in spirit intended, as it looks pretty, but obviously function was not part of the equasion when this was built.

I saw a trick while I was watching The Today Show with Hoda and Kathy Lee. The person took a ladder and set it up against a wall and then screwed in cabinet handles, small and large, then placed the wine bottle in with the necklace in the smaller one, and the bottom in the larger one. I hope that if you try this, it will work for you.

You should be able to use the rubber drawer liner. They come in all colors. You would just need to cut it into small strips. In the back of the rack, place it on both sides where the base of the bottle rests. That should be enough grip to hold the bottle in place. You can use a double sided tape to hold the rubber down, or if you want something more secure, Elmers glue will do the trick. If you find that they are still slipping. Place another strip at the front, but to keep it from detracting from the rack itself, place it, behind the cross bars where the nose of the bottle rests and just fold over a small portion toward the front of the rack. Again, using double sided tape or glue.

Perhaps you need a little something (2 small shims or blocks of wood ) placed in conspicuously under the front two corners of the rack to lift it up and keep the bottles in their places.

Have you tried putting a rubber band around each of the bottles (low down on the bottle, maybe about 3/4 inch from the base) When the bottle is placed in the rack the band should be between the back wall of the stand and the furthest (rear) cross piece that it rests on. That should stop the bottles from slipping forward. The rubber band should not be noticeable from the front and will be easy to slip off the bottle when it is taken from the rack.
