Wood I assume? Where is it broken? Can you post a photo? If not in a critical location a "sister" brace might work.
WhWhat is the polemade of? (Plastic/metal) it may need to be welded together, or it may be able to be fixed with some contact cement
If hollow, push a smaller diameter pole inside or larger outside if solid.

Can you get a dowel to put inside of it to secure it? Or an old broom handle, or be like me and buy a new broom for $1.50 just to get the handle! Then secure the top with silver duct tape, it comes in all colors. Tie a bandana or something around it to cover it.
