If your door is metal use apiece of foam with magnetic strips all around the edges.
Or a double line of weather stripping to lock out the air coming in.
Couldn't you cover a piece of wood with wadding and material ,that is slightly larger than the back and fix with hinge brackets.
I finally found something online that I hope will work. It’s a mail bag. Its made from quite thick material, so I’m pretty sure it can keep out the drafts. I placed two Velcro strips above and below the mail slot. Then I attached the bag. Super easy solution—It didn’t even require me to use any tools.

They make a magnetic flap that will mount to the slot and allow the mail to come it, but block some of the cold air.
Use the Magnetic Mail Slot Cover because it has a flexible magnetic sheet material that makes it simple and nearly effortless to insert mail via slot openings. The sheet then snaps shut, eliminating any possibility of air drafts caused by regular outside mail slot doors.
