old laminate is what the counters are made of and I believe at least 20+ years old. Also, 4 years ago, I painted over the laminate with counter paint but now that is peeling...so I thought possibly tile could be next step vs removing...
Make sure to temove all the peeling paint. Once cleaned off, you must use corse sand paper to rough up the counter thoroughly. Vaccum the too. Then you can place the tile.
