Yes, if you do not want to move the plumbing. Have you ever tiled before? Shower floors are not level and need to be sloped slightly towards the drain.
If you are wanting to tile the shower, you wouldn't need a plumber for that. Remove the existing walls surround. Install new cement board and tile.
Depending on the type of plumbing, you may only have to turn it off and remove the cosmetic cover.
