thats never been a problem at my place the sliver of the bar soap gets mated with the new bar. The areas that have liquid soap get topped off.

You can save them up and them then make new bars of soap! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-ESJ45sTuw

We used an extra sock that had no mate. I put all the clean bar soap pieces in the toe of the sock. When there are a few pieces inside it makes a mini wash rag by wetting it in the shower and using it to scrub using the built in soap pieces. I waited until we had a few pieces and now I just add them as we get them.

Take a wash puff and open it up and cut about 12 inches sew or tie a knot for the bottom and the top add over bars of soap tie the top. Makes a good hand scrubber. My grandmother made bags with tulle and tied it out side by the water faucet. for clean up.
