I don't know how many you have yet but you could create a really neat headboard with them arranged on a piece of plywood. You can play with a lot of different patterns until you find the one you like best. Use E6000 to glue them down. Let it lay flat for a few days to make sure it is completely dry.

Good luck!
How about a shadow box with an album cover of the type of music he plays? If he has recorded albums, use those albums (if it is all digital, make a copy of it and decoupage it on an old Goodwill vinyl album.) You can make several with either all black frames and colorful album cover to showcase his broken drum sticks. Or, If he doesn't care if you trim the sticks, you can make him a box using all of the broken sticks. Either glue onto an existing box and perhaps write the name of the song he broke the stick on. Could be an interesting project.
Great idea! Thank you!!
Love this!! Be sure to post a picture of your finished piece. I'm sure it will be great!
So here are a few pictures of my completed project. I added some of the tiny pieces that my son likes to leave on the rug under his drum set. Placement of the sticks turned out to be the hardest part. 1. deciding how to organize them (I am not good at random) 2. mounting them with the E6000. I have no doubt that the glue is good. It was a mess to use though.
Thank you all for the ideas!
I cut the beads off and put them on a necklace
Make a picture or Sculpture using them.

Row markers for your garden.
Cut them and use as a frame for a picture.
Save them in a wide-mouth glass container as a tabletop display.
Cut off the rough ends an glue around a clock for his room. Paint them one color or bright colors. Cut them to the same length. Use a hole cutter to make the correct size hole in a board and use wood glue to glue in the pieces of drumsticks for a coat or hat rack.
put them in the garden as stakes for plants or cut them in half lengthwise to make coasters.
If you clip the broken, splintered ends you could make Christmas ornaments with them.
Here are some really great ideas from Pinterest:

Purchase a large canvas, lay flat on the floor and drop the drum sticks onto the canvas. Glue them to the canvas in the random way they landed. You can add to this art piece as time goes on and more broken drum sticks occur. You could paint a no longer loved canvas a dark color (perhaps one of your son's favorites) and then glue the sticks to the canvas for a conversation art piece. Imagine a navy or black background with the sticks the focus! Awesome!!
