Decoupage them and use them as toilet paper storage!
When I was a child we made bird feeders from them.
When I was a girl, we made rocking baby doll beds, or rag doll chairs or thrones. I like to use them as boxes for cookies or loaf cakes, with everything inside being wrapped in plastic; and year round, not just for Christmas. I like to paint oatmeal boxes since they are pretty sturdy, but wrapping them is easy, too. The big ones can hold several skeins or balls or yarn, with the ends coming out holes in the lid 😇
Two things, one, cover with contact paper and use in the bathroom or kitchen. Second use for cookies for the holidays, wrap in Christmas paper, the top too. Glue the wrap on top.
