How can I repurpose a bird cage?
I have a large bird cage on wheels that belonged to our blue and gold macaw, Muscles. He was able to completely spread his wings with a lot of room to spare. I'm thinking of a patio project. Maybe a water and feed habitat for bees, hummingbirds, butterflies? I can picture ideas but have a harder time figuring out the best way to make them happen! Any help from people that have done a project like this?

Hi Linda,
Here are some neat ideas for repurposing a bird cage. I would also consider donating the item. I know many animal sanctuaries around here would love that type of donation.

What if you had a beautiful flowering vine that you place in a pot and put it in the cage? Then it can grow through and down from the bird cage. It would be so pretty!

Linda....Yes you can. I turned one into a plant holder but used artificial plants and hung in my dining room but your can use live plants too but make sure you use something to catch water under pot. Good luck.
Hi Linda, Check out my post where I turned my sentimental birdcage into a patio lantern. It is one of my favorite features at the top of our gazebo:

It's hard to tell what type of birdcage you have without a pic but you might be able to rig something up, put a light kit in it and change the look completely. good luck!
