That is exactly what I wanted to do with my son’s shirts. That looks beautiful.
It is harder than it looks! Fabric needs to be stabilized and even then it tends to slip and slide! Read several articles about it before you start. I make mine witout borders but either way is fine. Go slow.
I just made one. Cut out the part of the shirt you want. Buy iron on interfacing. Iron on to the the piece you just cut. You can add a boarder. Lay them in the order you want. You can use a cotton back or jersey. Good luck
just I start by cutting them apart ;then stabilized the one side you are going to used iron and press them good then cut the sizes you want out of them. layout;and then start to sew them together; I put a thin warm and natural in between and a backing; you can tie them or quilt them whatever you like; add a border and you are done.
