How can I use an old kitchen table top?
Old solid wood kitchen table top. It was left behind in my house when I bought it. I hung on to it thinking I might be able to use it later. Any thoughts?

It's hard to see what is going on in this picture. Are you looking to paint it?
Use it as a barn door glue/nail extra trim.
It IS lovely wood. If you want to use it as a dining table, refinish the top (sand, stain & seal) and paint or stain the decorative sides and legs in a coordinating color to give a fresh look. If you have no need for a dining table, you could resize it for a coffee and end table set. Maybe even a headboard if you are fairly good with a rounter. Or, if you just want to re-purpose the wood, you can dismantle it and save the wood top for a future project.
I don’t need a kitchen table and don’t really any thoughts as far as how I want to use it. I could paint it. I like the idea of using it for a barn door or a headboard.. great ideas! THANK YOU!’
The extension (leaf) board could be put to use as a shelf attached to one side of the table at a right angle. It could be painted and a picture/mirror could be attached and some knickknacks and a flower arrangement could make something beautiful. The two halves could also be put side by side for a beautiful headboard or used to created a bench. Good luck and have fun with your project.
it's kinda hard to tell from the picture but it looks like a veneer on the top of the table. the veneer is real wood, just thinner. much thinner. so thin that you can sand through it. try sanding in a hidden spot to see how it goes.
