They can be painted or distressed, then hang on wall. You can add fake flowers or vines or grape vines to decorate them. We took and old window that was missing one pane of glass and wove fake wine grape vines through the empty space and then hung it on the wall.

Three or four painted and aged shutters would make a rustic wall decor or headboard above a full or king sized bed. I would probably use several colors as if the shutters had been painted several times. And I would leave 6-12” between each shutter, according to the size of the bed or another wall. Extra shutters are a DIY treasure, like windows, mirrors, and picture frames. Best wishes! Jewell

Hinged together for a folding screen.

If they have louvered slats they can make folding display shelves for craft fair booths. Hinge two together and remove a couple slats side by side. Then put a shelf board through those openings. Works best with two sets of shutter and 2-4 shelves. You could nail shelf supports to solid shutters and use round or triangle shelves for a corner shelf.

They also could be doors for a storage unit.

Hang one horizontally for a head board.

I love shutters. I painted mine and put them on the inside of the house on each side of my bedroom window.

I know people who also hang them upside down and use them as mail organizers.
