Hi GrammaLee, I save things like that also! We are currently using a slab of styrofoam to hold keys to spray paint the ends so we know right away which is our house key and have pushed screws into styrofoam so the heads can be painted to match whatever project we are doing. We have also used pieces to insulate around a window air conditioner, stuck some on the inside of our shed doors for added insulation, covered with fabric to make a pencil/pen holder. So many things! Thanks for reusing/recycling!
You can break them up and use them in the bottom of pots to help with drainage.
They make great drainage fill when potting plants. Saves soil and they work great!
You can cut pieces in shapes with a hot knife, wrap in fabric scrap, and use as a pin cushion.
You can also cut into letters and paint with acrylic paint to make fake metal word for your wall.... and it is a whole lot cheaper than the store bought ones. ....
With the shape that they currently are, I see picture frames. Paint or cover with fabric (stick pins or glue will hold the fabric to the styrofoam), add a picture where the current hole is, and hang on the wall.
I can see these being placed on top of a mailbox wrapped with wire clothes hangers and decorations for a seasonal swag decoration.
I used this type of Styrofoam on the tops of my kitchen cabinet to give a lift to display my kitchen collection. Ultimately I redid that when I went through my spring cleaning. But you will get the idea by looking at that project. BTW, these cut very easily with an electric/handheld bread knife. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/walls/well-past-spring-cleaning-30973741?r=1
How to Creatively Display Collectibles Above Cabinets!
I save it too! I use it in large planters so not as much potting soil is needed and it is lighter. Better than the styrofoam peanuts which will float to the top when it rains.
Paint or cover with Fabric or decoupage and use as frames for mirror or pictures or to display item...........
All ideas are wonderful, I shall use them all.
