If the glass is intact remove the wood or putty holding it in place.
Our french doors have wood framing holding the glass and each light is an individual piece of glass. So we would have to remove the wood. Some French doors are 'faux' with one large piece of glass between two 'frames' full of squares that make the lights.
Thank you all! That helps!!!
A hammer and a towel to place over the top to keep glass from flying should do nicely. Why bother to take the thing apart?
Often they have small strips of wood holding in the glass. You can gently pry them up or the glass is held in with window glazing and points. Remove the glazing with a putty knife and then you will see the points. The can also be removed with your putty knife.
