Use a soft wash cloth with warm water dab onto eye area, don't rub and if you ,absolutely as last resort, need to you can add just a little barely any Johnson's baby shampoo(add a drop or 2 to bowl of warm water and mix well)then wipe very gently with soft clean wet wash cloth to remove any soap, several times. Keeping it's hair trimmed back out of eye area reduces tearing. If it's a light colored dog and you want to remove yellowing there are many home remedies but not safe to use they can actually irritate eyes and make it worse.you can use saline solution for sensitive eyes contacts and rinse them out. Eyes are not something to mess with, better left to vet if there is something wrong like any yellow discharge or swelling or redness or what's called 3rd eyelid is showing. These are all signs the dogs eyes need medical attention or it could result in loss of an eye.

The doctors for my children had me clean their eyes with boric acid solution. It does not burn but helps clean and kill germs. I'm sit's if it was good for babies it should be safe for dogs. It's sold at grocery and drug stores, inexpensive.

  • I use a warm soft cloth. We give our dogs spring water and that keeps their eyes clean. Also, check with your vet.

When you are cleaning anyone's eyes remember to use a separate piece of cloth or gauze for each one to prevent any infection spreading. Personally I would just use a saline solution to clean around an eye (human or animal).
