My whole kitchen has been transformed with chalk paint and sticky tile, even the countertops!! I learned a lot. It looks amazing and it was 'on the cheap'. Happy to answer any questions about the project and all the lessons I learned.

Patti Biggar on Mar 03, 2013You mention a matte finish poly top coat. Are you putting that over the wax layers? And does that make it more durable? I don't hear about that with ASCP, but am wondering if that is what I should do. What is the product?

Ginger Mosley, Realtor with UTR-Texas Realtors LLC on Mar 04, 2013Yes and yes. I will be applying the Artisan Enhancements by Aloha Coatings CLEAR TOPCOAT over the top of the wax layers. Because of heat, water, high traffic and possible scouring that kitchen cabinets must endure it is necessary to apply this topcoat. ASCP has a lacquer topcoat that she suggests for sealing painted floors and I plan to use this as my more durable sealer on the Formica countertops that I will be painting with her chalk paint. Have you watched Annie Sloan on YouTube? Hope this information helps, can't wait to see your finished kitchen and mine! :)
