Dan's of Central Florida, Inc. on Jan 18, 2012Gail, you will probably need to have the floor refinished by a professional. They will screen/sand down the floor and then finish it off for you.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Jan 22, 2012This is one of the more common complaints with these "band-aid" types of repairs. Your chipping is due to poor application...Just like with painting...good prep with give you good results...crappy prep = crappy results. Floors can be tough to maintain and many folks are not aware that many of the "cleaning" products used can actually be hell for any future refinish work...on common ingredient in floor products is Silicone...it can give a floor a shinny new look, but future refinishing efforts are stymied with what is called "fish-eyes". Depending on how messed up your floor is you may be able to get by with a screen and recoat...(which is a very light sanding of the finish only) it the damage is deeper then a full sand will be needed. Ballpark rates for refinish run 3-5 per sq ft.Helpful Reply
