Tired of the endless, expensive cycle of replacing pieces of broken glassware? Try this easy diy solution.
I both love and hate glassware. I love all the creative, beautiful designs that are available but hate how the pieces are constantly being broke in my rambunctious home. Last year, I bought a beautiful set of 12 wine glasses last year (6 white + 6 red) and at first I bought replacement pieces as they broke. One year and many dollars later, I'm down to four and have given up on the whole lot.
However I did NOT want to get in the endless cycle of purchasing replacement pieces, so I set out to DIY it. I was thrilled when I found heavy plain glasses at a local dollar store of all places.
First I created an stencil using adhesive shelf liner or "contact" paper.
I stuck the stencil in position on the glass.
I added "etching cream" to the glass using a small paint brush and rinsed off the solution.
I peeled off stencil and washed well.
Last but not least, I kicked my feet up on the back porch and enjoyed my work!
Enjoyed the project?
