Six Steps To Mixing Fabrics Like A Pro

Do you eve see a designer's room and it has such interest and so many fabric and you think, "I would have never even thought of that?"
I'm sharing the six steps that work every time to mix lots of pattern and interest into a room without making it feel crazy. Step 1: Pick out a visually graphic fabric. The wow fabric. The big bold print for the room. I like it to have a large repeat. To make a statement in your room, use it for curtains or on a chair. To keep it a little more calm, use it on a pillow, ottoman, or roman shade.
Step 2: Once you have the visually graphic fabric, pull out every color in it. I like to take it to the hardware store and find paint chips that match up to the colors. That way, if I want to paint something I know what colors I'm looking for and when I'm looking at accessories or other fabrics I can instantly see what will work. Tuck these into your purse or carry them in you glove box.
Steps 3-6: Matching up fabric. I give you the low down on why I picked the fabrics I did to go with this large coastal print on my blog. It's really as easy as doing a puzzle. Before you know it, you'll be mixing fabric and pattern like a pro. I do a Tuesday's Textile Mix every Tuesday if you want some textile inspiration.
