Creating Colored Ikea Lanterns for Pennies

Everybody has seen these groovy Ikea Borrby lanterns. Cool, but boring. We found a way to make them look like colored glass with theatrical gels. Gels are available online and at theatrical supply stores. I just cut my gel to fit with scisors (they don't even have to be perfect). Then adhere them to the inside of the lantern with windex...that I squeege out with a credit card.
Pretty simple ....and stunning.

Theatrical gels are used to change light colors on stage and are available at any theatrical supply site
They cut pretty eaisly with scisors
Spritz the inside with Windex....
.....attach the gel....
...and squeeze out the moisture with a credit card.
How perfect do they look with that orange door?
