DIY Canister Labels

Last week I made these cute DIY labels for my new glass canisters using PicMonkey, and today PicMonkey featured my project on their blog! How awesome is that?
Here's how I did it:
I recently mounted an open shelf above my kitchen window, and I picked up some glass canisters to store my baking supplies in and stash on the shelf. After I accidentally used cornstarch instead of baking powder in a recipe (DOH!), I thought it might be a good idea to label them.

My handwriting is so embarrassing that I didn't want use store bought labels that I would have to write on, so I decided to make them using PicMonkey. It ended up being a pretty fast and easy project!
I have 3 different sized jars, so I ended up making templates for 3 sizes of labels, using using the “Amatic Small Caps” font (in BOLD). I printed them up on regular white paper on my ancient black and white printer in my office.
Surprisingly, it didn’t take long at all to get them done
I used ModPodge and a foam brush to cover the back of each label, being careful to cover the entire surface.
Once I had the label positioned where I wanted it, I coated the top with more ModPodge.
Then I carefully cleaned up the edges with a damp paper towel.
They dried in a just few minutes and it worked perfectly.
Want to steal them? You can head over to my website and download the PDFs.

I linked this project up to the blog party - which has some really cool projects posted this week, by the way. :-)

I've seen these labels before and loved them. I have just created my own templet for them and will share if anyone wants one. Thanks for the inspiration. I am removing part of the outside wall of my pantry to insert shelves between the studs to put these on as I have seen here on another post. Heading to the Dollar or Family Store to see if they still have the jars!
