Patriotic Red, White, & Blue Picnic Caddy From the ThriftStore

It was a little hard to imagine the transformation on this thrift store find. I bought it thinking I would use the lazy Susan stand as a jewelry display for my flea market booth. But after thinking about it for a while I decided to turn it into a picnic caddy for summer entertaining on our patio! You can see more red, white, and blue patriotic DIY & craft projects on the blog. Take a look... would you have bought this?
I started off giving everything a coat of white paint. The lazy Susan got several coats since that was it's final color.
After that coat dried I painted one of the grinders blue and the other red. Those colors both needed several coats. Then I came back and distressed everything with some sandpaper, wiped it down good with a soft cloth, and finished it with a varnish.
I switched out the brown pottery oil and vinegar bottles and replaced them with some blue mason jars.
Now it's perfect for filling up with supplies in the kitchen and carrying out to our patio for evening meals! And I still have those pottery bottles. What would you do with them? You may see them again in one of my fall arrangements! You can get my supply list and see more photos on the blog. Thanks for reading!
