How to Paint Popcorn Ceilings
If your popcorn ceiling has never been painted before you have to paint it with a hand sprayer if your ceiling has been painted before than you can use a roller. This a tutorial on hand spraying
First you have to tape and plastic everything you don't want to get paint on. The easiest way to tape and plastic is to first put your tape on and fold it in half sticky side up than you can attach your plastic to the tape
Safety first you need to wear a good mask because there is alot of fumes that is Jeff in the green he will leave when Les is ready to start spraying.
Hold your sprayer about 10 to 12 inches from the ceiling sweeping back and forth. When you are done going in one direction then turn and go in the other direction like this#### criss cross that will blend in the spray pattern
Prep work is 90% of a professional job. The plastic we use is painter plastic 8'x400' or 12'x400' and the masking tape is 1 1/2" wide it seem that we fight it so much.
Wait until the paint dries both on the ceiling and on the tape before removing it from the walls otherwise you might risk get wet paint on some. When removing the tape pull down at a 90 degree angle and roll the paint side towards the inside center thats because if there is any wet paint you will keep on the plastic.
I some spots around your wood work the tape didn't cover it perfectly that's to be expected even us professionals have that happen but no worries easy fix we take a 7 in one tool and a thin damp cloth we lay the cloth over the edge of the tool an rub up and down under the spot and that rolls the paint off. Move the cloth on the tool for every spot.
If you do all the prep work and follow these direction you will also have beautiful results.
