Nursing Home to Modern Home

Nursing home chair had been sitting in the rain. I asked the owner if I could have it and the rest is history!
I thought this chair was an antique but when dismantling it I found it was part of a nursing home collection that had been discontinued. That is OK with me, it is the look that matters.
She had a gorgeous set of gams with a sassy pair of rolling heels that were badly rusted.
The padded back was tattered and dated and the seat was a faded vinyl
Stripped and sanded. There were a few spots that had deep gouges which I repaired with stainable wood filler. This was my first time working with a padded back chair and I had no idea how difficult it would be to remove the backing and the HUNDREDS of staples used to adhere the padding. That was the most frustrating and time consuming part of the entire project. It took 3 days! I had to be extra careful not to gouge the channel where the fabric and padding was removed..
I sanded the metal and removed all the rust then I lubricated the underside and spray painted them with a Rustoleum copper paint.
When I saw this GORGEOUS peacock panel I knew I had to use it on the back of the chair. I cut the peacock out and stitched it onto the back panel. Perfect fit!
With a cherry mahogany stain and embroidered peacock panel against that blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW.
