UNDER THE SEA SEASHELL CRAFT
For the first 26 years of my life I lived in a city called Johannesburg in South Africa. Johannesburg is inland and the nearest beach is more than 550km away, so a trip to the beach was always a real holiday treat and something I remember very fondly.
I love the sound of the crashing waves and the sight of a calm jewel blue sea never fails to soothe me. As a child, I enjoyed looking for seashells and found it fascinating to imagine the mysterious and unusual sea creatures that had lived in them.
Now I live in Perth, Australia – which is only about 2km from the beach… lucky me! Both my boys were born in Perth so the beach is a large part of their lives. In the warmer months we’re at the beach at least once a week. The boys enjoy running around in the sand and surf, frolicking in the waves, burying eachother (!) and building huge sand castles.
I still love looking for shells- these days it’s with two boisterous little helpers in tow!

We can’t wait for the weather to warm up a bit to resume our beach visits once again. In the meantime Big boy and I thought we’d use some of our seashell collection to make an undersea art piece… to create some indoor beach fun!
