Milk Painted Chair With Chippy Goodness!

2 Materials
So, another weekend has passed and in my world that equates to shopping in thrift stores and finding something I like that I can transform and use in my décor and then work on the piece. Well, I was lucky to get quite the catch! I found this very unusual chair, it almost looks like the chair back is turned upside down. I knew without a doubt it was a cool chair, and I had to have it! So in my car it went, and it only cost me twenty dollars!

When I set my chair up in my work space I knew first off I was going to be using Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in color grain sack, I just love that paint. I’ve tried the whole chalk paint thing, and it’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but milk paint has a whole life of its own. I then figured out at least two options for my fabric, I choose two because I knew this chair was going to come out one of two ways, with chipping or with no chipping, either way they were both completely different looks, but I was prepared.

So, I picked my paint color from Miss Mustard Seed’s Paint line and I decided on Grain Sack. It’s a nice white that has a slight gray tone to it, quite pretty in person. So, now with everything thought out, all I had to do was start applying the paint, first coat goes down and everything looks great, second coat goes down and something dramatic started happening, and I of course started to get super excited, I had never had a piece react to the paint as this one was I remember saying to myself…”oh boy it’s lifting from the surface!!” “Oh my, it’s lifting a lot!!” Yeah baby, batten down the hatches, here it comes!!!!!!!!!……THE MOTHER LOAD OF CHIPPY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jesus!

So, I removed all the paint that was chipping off the chair, gave it a light sanding and sealed the paint, I then added the fabric to the seat, that I thought worked best with this the chippy finish, In this case I went with Duralee Fabric with Fish. Ok, I know you’re saying Fish? Why Fish? Not on that pretty chair. Well, to me nothing is better than FISH N CHIPS!!!!!!
