Vintage Yardstick Christmas Tree

3 Materials
We love flea market projects so we couldn’t wait to make our own Vintage Yardstick Christmas Tree. We started collecting old rulers and yardsticks every time we saw them at garage sales and flea markets. Usually for only a dollar each!
We started by cutting the yardsticks to different lengths to make the pyramid shape of the tree. We just used a handsaw. The rulers and yardsticks are very easy to cut.
Then we painted them in washes of red, yellow, blue, and green. We wanted them to look aged so we thinned the paint and wiped it off with a paper towel after painting it on.
We glued the yardstick pieces into a tree shape and added rhinestone brooches and buttons as ornaments. We used wire cutters to remove the shanks and pinbacks.
You can see the whole list of materials we used, plus the step-by-step instructions, here.
If you have any questions or ideas, leave us a comment and we'll reply! We love hearing from you!
