Powder Room Makeover

A black and white powder room with black ceiling and shiplap walls.

BEFORE: This room had wallpaper, tile and stucco on the walls. The floor tiles were at least 30 years old and every single thing needed updating.

We opted for a classic (and yet still modern) black and white hexagon floor tile with dark grey grout for contrast. The small scale of the tile is a nice contrast to the large scale shiplap.

Shiplap walls and hexagon black and white tile make this room neutral but also appear very spacious.

Vintage towel hook and mirror from IKEA. The sink is floating to make this tiny 70 square foot room look a little bigger.

Frames from Target and prints of vintage maps found on Etsy give the room a personal touch and some character. The maps are representative of where my family and my husband's family are from.

Small thrifted accessories bring a bit of warmth and life into the room and are easy to change with the seasons. For Christmas, I opted to keep the eucalyptus and add in a candle and an ornament. Again, simple.

The mix of large pattern on the walls and small on the floor give the room a lot of texture and dimension.

The ceiling was painted black to make the room appear taller and to cut a bit of the white that is very much present

Is the top row of shiplap painted black, or did you elect to just paint the wall black at that point?
