Bought this wooden TV tray for $2 at Goodwill. Wanted to do something different with it - not just paint it.
Found this solid wood TV tray at a thrift store - it was screaming for a new look!
I sanded down the top and found it actually had a nice wood grain underneath - who knew?
Next, I applied some stenciled leaves with brown paint - let it dry.
Next - I applied my favorite finish to the top of the TV tray - ReStor-A-Finish in the shade of walnut.
Finally - I applied a clear water-based poly to the top - over the stencils and the entire thing. I applied two coats - using steel wool as a sander in between each dried coat.
Love the fun, new look that I gave this out-dated, old TV tray!

Have a question about this project?
Did you do anything with the table legs? Did you add tips or felt to the bottoms? You really bought a sow's ear and made a silk purse out of it. Best wishes!
What kind of paint did you use to prevent smearing the stencils with the restorer? Anything special?
Very nice! Who would think a tv table would be made of such beautiful wood?
