I've bought them before as long as they're in decent shape and not just one step from dying! Also, hang on to your receipt bc most big box compan will reimburse if the plant dies within the first year! Good Luch!
In my world called "save me" plants - Tuesdays is best for most big box stores like Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Monday the staff receives new stock and pull out the plants customers mangled over the weekend and now marked down to pennies on the dollar for a quick sale. As long as I think I can give it a good life and revive it, I am willing to take a chance. 90% of the time I am successful.
If they look ragged, trim/ prune back. Plant, fertilize ( love miracle grow). I purchased a number of decent sized trees this way years ago at Walmart..$5.00 a pop right after 4th of July. They are huge now!!!
I think that depends on your plant knowledge and experience.Things to look for on marked down plants are insects,as the plant may be on sale but the cost of you try g to rid the insects may not be worth while.
We think this is a major score!! With some TLC from the new owners, these plants should be just fine!!
I think this depends on the person....I have a black thumb and if they are already looking droopy, I will most likely kill them faster than if they start off healthy.
I buy discounted plants every season. It's amazing what some trimming and water will accomplish.
I think it depends on how bad the plant really looks. I have found that most of the ones that I have purchased were just in need of some good watering/fertilizer and sun
We bought a last years leftover honeysuckle that was nothing but a twig and ithas thrived.
