How do you get rid od creeping charlie?
My lawn has been over run with creeping charlie, more of it then I have grass. How can I get rid of it?
I also suffered with Creeping Charlie! At one point, two thirds of my lawn was taken over. I tried everything under the sun. I finally tried Spectracide Weed and Feed. I mixed a much stronger solution than the instructions said. Used a handheld sprayer and really wet the "lawn" down with no rain scheduled for the next few days. Killed the Charlie and he lawn came back stronger than ever. I still get some Charlie coming back every so often, so I pull out what I can and spot spray it along with other weeds as general maintenance.
The only weed killers that will get rid of creeping Charlie is ones that contain dicamba.. I don't know of anything organic that will eradicate it.
Nothing organic, but regular Twenty Mule Team Borax will work. Get it in you laundry section at the market. Spread it on thickly, try to stay off the area, tracking it into the house may make your dog or cat sick, when they like their paws.
The borax will kill the Charlie and anything else near or around it. It will take about a year for the area to regrow good grass :: but your 'next spring' reseed the area thouroughly.
I hate the stuff, used to be my Sunday after church job, while Mom cooked Sunday dinner. Back aches galore, but then we discovered the 20 Mule team borax use. Hooray, and now the grass is few to grow.
I've embraced charlie as a no mow option for my densely shaded side yard. haven't got grass seed to grow there yet.
Spectracide should get rid of it
