Barter is Smarter!! Is there a skill you might have that could be traded for labor? Cooking, crafts, day care, pet sitting, etc?
Other than that, you might want to find a young college kid painting team, research them a lot with reviews and such, and see if they will work for cheap. If that doesn't work, do you have friends, relatives or church folks that might come to a massive "painting party"? I hope those help.
Take a stroll around your neighborhood amd neighborhoods like yours. Take pictures of what you like. Sometimes a one time consult with a professional architect or designer can be money well spent. It can save you from making costly mistakes.
That porch is gorgeous, it is worth saving if you can. I agree with others, look around at other houses, and if you like what you see, don't be too shy to ask the homeowner what contractor he used, whether painter or carpenter, etc.
Paint stores always have brochures with color combinations. I have found good people using Angie's list, in addition to using folks recommended by neighbors.
Greetings! By looking at your pictures, I think you can do this yourself. Personally, I would redo that reddish brown color and revamp it into a brighter color. Paint that bottom criss cross fencing the same color Along with handrail and maybe wrought iron fence too! Power wash the exterior, and paint your door, a funky color and then I would tie it all in with some plants, chairs and window shutters. Not too expensive and you can do this!!!! Good luck! It's a nice house...
And I might add, I would paint the porch roof the same color as the door. Leave your black fence.. It's ok the way it is. Just make it uniformed! Hope this helps!
Paint that white drain pipe too to match!
Along with these great ideas, I would add a contrast to your neighbors mauve colors and a nautical touch to your table on the porch, with white and navy paint on table and chairs. Then add awnings to your windows and I would paint your side of the house and porch a soft blue (country), with beige trim all around the bottom too! Navy color for the awnings on three windows above the porch, too!! Hope these ideas help! So many great ideas!! I could on and on.
It doesn't look all that bad just a little bit of time and paint can't fix. And some beautiful plants near your entry way look at some southern ideas for your inspiration. I mean how we do it in the south lol
