Have you thought about making a roman shade? It's super easy and you can customize them with any fabric you want to match the room.
I would go with the bamboo so it coordinates with the rest of your home. If you want to go in a different direction, there are lots of options here on Hometalk!
Hi Catherine: I've seen a lot of people put curtains up and then maybe tie them in the center during the day. That might obstruct your view to your patio, though. I'm thinking the bamboo shades you have in the rest of your house might work well there. I'd wat to be able to pull them up during the day and want them to "disappear", if you will. Even roman shades would look great on them.
You can tint the glass and hang sheer white curtains if you don't want to go with the bamboo again , although I don't think hanging it from the French doors too would be too much .
Verticals the color of your bamboo blinds or drapes with grommets so they draw easily....even pull down shades may work. You could get small curtain rods to put on the french doors....one on top and one on the bottom so that curtains are on the french doors themselves. I have that on the single door going out to my patio....it is a sheer and lets in light but no bright sun and no one can see in.
If they have divided light panes, you can hang panel curtains that have a top and bottom rod that you attach to the inside of the door. If you have doors with one large pane of glass, there are plastic coatings mimicking frosted glass or stained glass that you can apply directly to the glass.
I love sheer on a French door! You can still see through them, or pull them to the side during the day. But they continue the romantic, French feeling.
