I don’t use the command hooks, for some reason I can not keep mine on. I think it is because of humidity. Instead I by just a cheap wreath hanger. We only see the wreath and the hanger is hidden.

They work great for that! I've used the Command heavy duty hooks on the front door to help with wind and movement. I've never had one fall off yet! Here's a post I wrote showing installing and hanging a vintage umbrella on the front door.
Susan just make sure it holds a good size weight. It the door has metal or glass... you can use the magnets that will go on both sides of the single pane window or will attach to metal. Can purchase t Hobby Lobby or Ace Hardware.
You might want to put the command hook on the inside of the door and hang it upside down. I did this and I love it. I'm in Alabama and the humidity didn't work well with mounting command hook on the outside of the door.
NOTE: These are not my pictures since I'm at work.
Try an upside down' J' hook, one side out for wreath, other side over top of door.

If command hooks don't work for you try fishing line it is very strong and nearly invisible plus it has MANY other uses.
