Home made or commercially produced? Windex and newspapers work well. If really firty on the outside, hose down, and use dawn to wash, hose off and dry with a soft towel.

Streak Free Windows and Mirrors
My Mom always washes the windows with Ammonia water and rinses with vinegar water as it cuts the residual that is left. Her windows always sparkled!!
My Mom swears by Washer fluid for her car. And it's cheap.
Vinegar and water with a squirt of dish soap. Wash, rinse, wipe, repeat if needed.

First, take an equal amount of vinegar and water and mix them together in a spray bottle. White distilled vinegar will work best for this. Then, spray the solution on your windows and let it sit for around two to three minutes. Lastly, use a gentle cloth to wipe away the cleaning solution and avoid any streaks.
I use half and half plain white vinegar and water, spray on and wipe with a microfiber cloth.
