Hallway Reno on 1778 Farm House

Hallway Reno on 1778 Farm House-The side entry was so narrow we would have to open the door and then walk away so our guests could come in. This small area contained the door to the basement and the stairs that used to go up to the upstairs bedroom. We had blocked the stairs off years ago because we have a front staircase.
this is the BEFORE of the narrow side entry.
Starting to take down the wall and finding some interesting wallpaper and layers of sheetrock, lathe and beautiful wood.
close up of the discoveries behind the sheetrock
This wood is amazing and will be used on another project I have in mind for the kitchen
This is after the wall and stair case and door are gone! Now there plenty of room to have a real entry!
Here is the AFTER. We had a carpenter finish the floor with some pine and he made a hatch door so we can still access the basement if we are too lazy to go outside to the bulkhead! I still have to take down the ceiling and re-do it.

That was a LOT of work but was well worth it! Great job in keeping with the house!
