Miss Huff Lantana loves the blistering sun and is drought tolerant. It does take a bit to get going the first year, but once it does it gets enormous with yellow, pink and red flowers that the hummingbirds and butterflies love. It is slow to come in in the spring but worth the wait. I planted bee balm between two huge lantanas for earlier color and just love it.
try cleome or spider plant. Another nice plant is rose campion.
How about roses? They can take the heat. Rosemary would be pretty too for texture.
They come back every year. Easy to grow.
