They sell designer window trims and headers that are an alternative to just the shutters, here is a link that shows some:

Or, you could paint the existing trim to match your door, or a color that compliments it.
Shutters
You have a lovely house. easiest would be the black shutters and red door. I like that idea since I have a red door., but no shutters on my style house. I did change the basic trim around the windows and doors to be more beefy. I loved the link on exterior trim. I made mine but that was before this wonderful world of "links" I would definitely beef up the front you could even add something more colorful in you plantings.
Yes... love the idea of black shutters and red door!! It'll be very eye catching!!
I think that the black shutters will look really nice. The red door has a meaning of "welcome to all to my home". Maybe you can do the shutters then the door, or do the red door and see how that looks before you move forward with the shutters. Either way you will be able to tell much better with one or the other project it you even want to do more. OR, take or draw a picture of your house and use the colors on the picture. You may find out that you won't like it at all.
Black might be a bit too dark What about a charcoal grey? And not a fire engine red but maybe Impressionist Ruby by Benjamin Moore for the door
Yes! I would make it more interesting and the red door would be inviting
gr8 idea, perhaps dark grey!
You only have room for shutter on top left...another cute idea would be window boxes under the top left....shutters do seem to be going out of style lately
Your house looks lovely, I think shutters would add some depth to your house. Black is always the go to color for a gray house. As for the red door I'm on the fence. I know that is the color combination most people use. I know you need some color but a black door always looks nice or even a dark gray. Perhaps a wreath on the door with some pretty light and darker shades of purple, lilac and lavender. Next to the front door a planter with some pretty flowers in it. Good luck with making your decision. I'm sure it will look nice whatever you decide.
Yes to the shutters and yes to the red door . Hopefully a barnyard distressed look.
Shutters, yes, in black. I understand the red door but be different, just hang a wreath on your front door, decorated in black and white, think polka dots with faux black/white flowers. How about painting, just the trim of the octagon window, above your door...black? Also suggest painting the white board behind your porch lights black. From what I am envisioning, your house would "pop"!
burgundy shutters and door would look nice bright red is nono. too bright.
No shutters. They would only look fake because their size would not be correct because of the width of the windows. I would love to see either painting the window surrounds another color or, better still, use the money for shutters to have a wider trim put around the windows in color. It would add interest to the house without shutters. And a great color on the front door.
I think your instincts are just right. Black shutters and a red door would make your house the center of attention. Bless you 😇
I'm with you. Shutters and a deep red (not fire engine red) door would look awesome. Especially with black shutters.
Yes! Black shutters and a red door would be perfect. Please keep the door's white framing and side panel, just the door red.
Yes I would put black shutter, with red or black and woo white boxes on he above windows only and add long pendent light over the door. Flower pots flush to the house in black and add decortive window and door trim. I have just the pictures to help you with your project and yes right that extra touch you need for curb appeal 💡
great house!
As others have said, if you are to put shutters, do it on the left only, since each shutter should be 1/2 the width of the window. The window on the right is too big, and small shutters would look off. IMO, although many homeowners still do this (I have in the past too), skinny shutters and big windows look dated and unbalanced.
having said that, it is your house, and if you like it, do it!!!
Here are some ideas on another style of house.

Shutters-yes! Red door-yes...be advised that wasps do like to build nests behind shutters if you have them in your area.
Shutters, red door and window boxes.
Shutters of course! This is my choice https://apolloblinds.com.au/shutters/
Shutters. Your house is beautiful. Shutters would add to the look exponentially !!!
No shutters, as there's not enough space between the window frame and outside house frame to look balanced. I'd create some interest at the front door with it painted a color you love that might give a int of the colors inside your home. If you were to use shutters, the home will begin to look very "busy" and would you add to all the windows. Busy, busy!
I love your idea. Another color for the door would be Navy, it looks great with gray.
It depends on your personal preference and the style you want for your space. Shutters can add a classic and elegant look, while a lack of shutters can create a more open and modern feel. Consider your aesthetic preferences and the functionality you desire when deciding whether to use shutters or not.
